Kit contains 4 bags of 2 ounces of each of the following chemicals COPPER SULFATE FERRIC NITRATE LIVER OF SULFUR CUPRIC NITRATE PATINA CHEMICALS KIT #29 WARNING!!! This kit contains harmful chemicals and should be used with extreme caution. Not for use by children under 18. Before using, be sure you use, gloves, goggles and a chemical resistant shop apron. COPPER SULFATE can cause severe eye irritation. Eating large amounts of copper sulfate can lead to nausea, vomiting, and damage to body tissues, blood cells, the liver, and kidneys. With extreme exposures, shock and death can occur. Copper sulfate affects animals in a similar way. FERRIC NITRATE Causes eye irritation skin irritation. Ingestion may cause central nervous system depression, kidney damage, and liver damage. Inhalation: Causes respiratory tract irritation. CUPRIC NITRATE causes burn of eyes, skin and mucous membranes. Oxidizer: Contact with combustible/organic material may cause fire. May ignite combustibles (wood paper, oil, clothing, etc.). Do not allow run-off from fire-fighting to enter drains or water courses. LIVER OF SULFUR Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical attention. Ingestion: Induce vomiting immediately as directed by medical personnel. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical attention. Skin Contact: Immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical attention. Wash clothing before reuse. Thoroughly clean shoes before use. Eye Contact: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, lifting lower and upper eyelids occasionally. Get medical attention immediately. BLACKISH BROWN 2 ounces Ferric nitrate ¼ ounce Liver of sulfur 16 ounces distilled water Mix the ferric nitrate to the water and stir then add the liver of sulfur and stir until the chemical is totally dissolved. Brush this solution on to the metal. Solution can be used cold or slowly heat with a torch until the liquid steams off. Be certain to wear, goggles, a face mask, gloves and work only with proper ventilation. RICH, BROWN -FLORENTINE BROWN ½ teaspoon Ferric nitrate 1 teaspoon Ferric chloride 16 ounces distilled water Mix the ferric nitrate and ferric chloride to the water and stir until the chemical is totally dissolved. Brush this solution on to the metal. Solution can be used cold or slowly heat with a torch until the liquid steams off. Be certain to wear, goggles, a face mask, gloves and work only with proper ventilation. PALE GREEN 1 teaspoon cupric nitrate 16 ounces distilled water Add Cupric nitrate to the water and stir until the chemical is totally dissolved. Brush this solution on to the metal. Slowly heat with a torch until the liquid steams off. If the metal is overheated, the brush will stick and burn. If the color is burnt by the use of the torch, simply reapply the patina to the affected area. This patina is semitransparent, and must be built up slowly. Add a new layer with each coloring attempt. Be certain to wear, goggles, a face mask, gloves and work only with proper ventilation. BLUE- GREEN 200 grams cupric nitrate 1-liter distilled water Add Cupric nitrate to the water and stir until the chemical is totally dissolved. Brush this solution on to the metal. Slowly heat with a torch until the liquid steams off. This patina is semitransparent, and must be built up slowly. Add a new layer with each coloring attempt. Be certain to wear, goggles, a face mask, gloves and work only with proper PALE YELLOW ½ teaspoon ferric nitrate 8 ounces distilled water Add ferric nitrate to the water and stir until the chemical is totally dissolved. Brush this solution on to the metal. Slowly heat with a torch until the liquid steams off. This patina is semitransparent, and must be built up slowly. Add a new layer with each coloring attempt. Be certain to wear, goggles, a face mask, gloves and work only with proper ventilation. LIGHT BROWN to BASIC DARK BROWN 1 tablespoon Ferric nitrate 13 ounces distilled water Add ferric nitrate to the water and stir until the chemical is totally dissolved. Brush this solution on to the metal. Slowly heat with a torch until the liquid steams off. This patina is very transparent, and must be built up slowly. Be certain to wear, goggles, a face mask, gloves and work only with proper ventilation. BROWN to BLACK 1 teaspoon Ferric nitrate ½ teaspoon Liver of sulfur 16 ounces distilled water Mix the ferric nitrate and the liver of sulfur to the water and stir until the chemical is totally dissolved. Brush this solution on to the metal. Solution can be used cold or slowly heat with a torch until the liquid steams off.
